ITINERARY

2ND SPOTTERS DAY TOUR  - 7TH - 9TH OCTOBER

Flying out early on the 7th October, to Athens. Then we board our private transport which takes us to Patras and our hotel on the marina where we stay for the next two nights. Early start on the 8th, onto our private transport, which takes us to and from Andravida for the spotters'

day. On the 9th we have a late flight back to the UK, so we will spend the day in and around Patras.


Note: we will not be doing any of the low-flying areas due to large vehicle access in certain areas.

To ensure we comply with local laws, travel whilst in Greece, will be by private transfer, not hire car as your travel insurance will be invalid if we choose this method.


Note: Our tours rely on a minimum number of travelers, so they may not happen in extreme cases.



This cost includes return flights, private transport in Greece, and twin rooms on a bed and breakfast-basis.

IMPORTANT

XXIV Sqn is the Operational Conversion Unit for both the C-17 and A400M fleets, delivering training to both Pilot and Loadmaster students. The Sqn is also the home of the Engineering Maintenance School for these fleets, providing type specific engineering training. It also delivers Instructor Development Training for all RAF aircrew. All this, whilst being directly involved in frontline operational tasking for the RAF’s Air Mobility Force.

Passports and Visas:

It is your duty to ensure you are in compliance with all entry requirements listed on the FCDO website (for British passport holders), or the appropriate national authority (for non-British passport holders). Threshold and Travel Counsellors will not be held responsible for any entry refusals or delays due to failure to comply with the entry requirements at the point of entry.

Coach Travel:

All our tours will be conducted using a professionally operated commercial vehicle, with suitably qualified driver in line with local and national laws to ensure your health and safety, and compliance with insurance and legal requirements. We will never utilise hire vehicles with a tour manager or member of the tour acting as the driver as this will be illegal as all members of the tour will have made a payment to the hire.

Mobility:

As this tour takes place on an active air force base, the Greek Air Force have advised us that their flight safety rules do not allow any person on-base who cannot walk unaided; therefore, we are not able to accept bookings from anyone with a walking disability.

COVID Entry Requirements:

It is your duty to ensure you are following all COVID-19 requirements listed on the FCDO website (for British passport holders), or the appropriate national authority (for non-British passport holders). Airport Security:

Airport security staff may ask you to turn on electronic or battery-powered devices, such as phones, tablets, e-books and laptops, to demonstrate their function. If you're not able to do this, you will not be able to take your device with you.

 All medication should be accompanied by documentary proof of authenticity, such as a prescription or letter from a medical practitioner confirming that you need them for your journey. Liquid medication that is not required on the flight should be carried as hold luggage.

Climate and Currency:

Greece will be warm and sunny with daytime temps of between 20-25°C, sunscreen and some head/neck wear is advisable as you will be on an airfield where typically cover isn’t available.

The currency in Greece is the Euro. Major credit cards are accepted everywhere. Various squadrons may sell items on base during the spotters’ day and only cash will be accepted there.

Other Travel Arrangements:

All flight departure and arrival times are correct at the time of preparing this itinerary; however, it is worth noting that many airlines may change their flight times with limited warning. The final itinerary will show the actual times. Anyone making their own arrangements around that of the tour, should bear the above in mind if purchasing non-refundable or non-changeable tickets. Threshold cannot be held responsible for any changes, to flight times in respect to any privately arranged travel tickets not being useable.
